Distinguished Young Women, or Junior Miss as it was formerly known, is a competition that showcases high school junior girls and their abilities in scholastics, current issues, fitness, as well as highlighting their talents.

This year the 2013 Distinguished Young Women event was hosted by 2012’s Distinguished Young Woman of Douglas County and of Roseburg, Boni Yraguen and Annie Titus, along with the comical genius of Josh Carlton as the night’s MC.

Twenty women from all over Douglas County showed off their skills Saturday night, with Roseburg High School being represented in the majority of participants. The night kicked off with a great routine, introducing each of the contestants and letting the audience get a glimpse at what the night had in store.

Throughout the night, the talent portion of the evening was by far the most interesting. Roseburg High School girls represented well in this category with a wide variety of entertainment ranging from singing, dancing, and gymnastics to art and musical instruments.

As the judges deliberated at the end of the night, the opportunity for hosts Annie and Boni to show off their talents was presented. Annie performed a dance routine she, herself, choreographed, and Boni showed off her skills on the piano.

At the end of the night, Roseburg High School junior Terrin Misfeldt took the title of Distinguished Woman of Douglas County and Roseburg High School junior Ally Malone took the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Roseburg. All of these women were the epitome of talented, charismatic, and fun, showing just how much hard work they put into the event through every moment on the stage.
