“If you don’t like it, close your eyes,” said the governor of Pennsylvania. Obama responded to Republican Gov. Tom Corbett with, “It’s appalling. It’s offensive. It’s out of touch. And when it comes to what’s going on out there, you’re not going to close your eyes…Women across America aren’t closing their eyes. As long as I’m president, I won’t either.” President Obama has recently addressed the nation regarding women’s health care sparking heated discussions.

Women have fought through a lot for their freedom, but why should we fight for something that has gone on for so long if it hasn’t changed? Has it changed, women’s freedom? Women’s freedom has increased over the years making it okay for people to do, and say what we want to a certain extent, but over the years we have fought battle, after battle, but for what, because were still fighting.
“Republicans in Congress were going so far as to say an employer should be able to have a say in the health care decisions of its female employees,” Obama said, “I’m always puzzled by this — this is a party that says it prides itself on being rabidly anti-regulation. These are folks who claim to believe in freedom from government interference and meddling. But it doesn’t seem to bother them when it comes to a woman’s health.”

Women’s health rights are being debated over the last couple of months, because of women’s reasoning to get certain operations, like liposuction, face lifts, things that are for there own personal self reflection. Also there are complaints about surgeries that that are being preformed that may end someone’s life, such as abortion.

Sixty percent of abortion causes are rape, women that are raped get abortions to forget their past, and start their futures. People that get raped choose not to remember it, because of the horrible things that they went through. Rape is a crime, worse than that it is a crime that someone has to live with for the rest of their life. So why should they have another reason to remember their past, especially the worst parts.

Obama says, “not to close our eyes,” and I will keep mine open, until women have the rights are rights and not privileges, and I hope the women around America keep theirs open as well.
