Many exciting things are happening this year at the summer Olympics. This year the iconic games will take place in London, England.There are many U.S. hopefuls for the gold this year, including the basketball team looking to claim yet another gold. Steven Lopez is back for his fourth Olympics and is looking to get his hands on a third gold medal in taekwondo.

Of all people expected to make a splash this summer, Michael Phelps with a career total of 16 medals. He needs just three more of any color to become the most decorated Olympian in any sport. Phelps, 26, will retire after this years games.

Some non-American hopefuls include Usain Bolt, who in 2008 set World Records and won golds in the 100 Meters, 200 Meters and the sprint relay. Bolt will have some competition this year though, Yohan Blake. Blake won the 2011 100 Meter and set the second fastest time in the 200 meter, right behind Usain Bolt’s record set at the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. Both Bolt and Blake are from Jamaica and train under the same trainer.

In tennis this year one name comes to everybody’s mind. The native from Spain, Rafael Nadal, has won ten Grand Slam singles titles, including six French Open titles, and the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles. Look for Rafa to slam the competition this year. It should be a good one this year lots of exciting athletes and stories coming into London this Summer.
