With finals coming up, many students are filled with worry over their grades. Test anxiety is a common problem, but there are many ways to work around it.
Make sure to get enough sleep. Pulling an all-nighter studying the night before finals is not a great plan. Instead, study the weekend before to avoid cramming. Being tired only makes things more stressful, and it makes you forgetful and irritable as well.
Eat a healthy breakfast and bring snacks to the test. Being hungry is distracting and uncomfortable, but it is also very avoidable. Be sure to eat something filling in the morning, and a granola bar or a piece of fruit for later.
Be prepared. One of the best ways to relieve stress is to be prepared. Showing up to a test with no idea what to expect is not a good feeling, so if you have any questions or need extra help just ask your teacher or a friend.
Avoid cramming. If you only study the night before, you are less likely to remember than if you study a little bit every day for a week or so before the test. Plus, cramming makes you tired, especially if you stay up all night.
If you prepare well for your tests, eat a healthy breakfast, and get enough sleep, finals are manageable.
