2019 has come along and people have been making resolutions for the new year, but it seems these resolutions never quite accomplish what they are trying to achieve. However, this year, Prince Ea is making it known for the biggest–and even the smallest–of changes that he wants people to accomplish this year. It’s giving people incentive to go through with their own actions, and it is inspiring them to make these huge resolutions that will be beneficial for their community or even just the people around them.

Prince Ea–a famous poet, rapper, and YouTuber–has devoted a lot of his time to spreading inspirational ideas through music, videos, etc. This new year, he’s made a video titled “NEW YEAR, NEW M…STOP.” He starts out his video by making a metaphor of an eagle growing up a chicken and dying a chicken, knowing only the life of the chicken and never being able to surpass being a chicken. Through that, he continues by saying that some people are the chicken: they are the chicken in their friend groups, addictions, etc. They keep the bar low for their sake.

As the video goes on, he talks about people’s New Year’s resolutions often fight back, and people end up being stuck in the same position, if not farther in, they wanted to be out of. He’s letting people know that this is not the year for people to give up and to stay in their comfort zone. He makes the connection of Icarus flying too close to the sun. Most people know of his arrogance, but they forget that he also was not supposed to fly to low to the ocean. Those who fly too low–those that are way too humble and cautious in life–will never soar above and reach what they need to reach.

Prince EA is really trying to get to the hearts of those wanting to change themselves or adjust something they do for the better. However, most people soar too low, and they need to stick out what they’re serving to do. Don’t get stuck in the comfort zone.
