The library, where everyone goes!

Libraries usually draw certain crowds, but libraries should be–and are–for everyone! Whether someone plays sports, likes to read, likes to play music, or etc. A library is a home to anyone who wants to utilize it that way. Libraries don’t just have books either; they have many, many things for a person to do. In the RHS library for example, there are tons of things in the works! Marie Felgentrager is the head librarian of our RHS library. She has been here for five years so far and has some exciting upcoming plans for the library.

“New activities and crafts are on the horizon,” Felgentrager says. She means it when she says this! There are plenty of new things the library offers like a short story contest, a naming the librarian-witch contest, and returning this year will be a book fair during conferences! Not only that, but there are tons of new books in the library this year that are ready and available for checking out, and there are new books almost weekly. And another thing returning this year is Bob Ross Fridays! Keep in mind that she has not shared everything and it may be up to students to come and see what is new, but do not be afraid; the library is for everyone!

All these things can be found at the RHS library, and students should come and take part in the activities in the library. The librarians are most excited to share these things. Felgentrager goes as far to say “I am most excited to see students take part in new craft activities.” Students should share their excitement and pop in for a visit. All RHS students know where the library is and for those who do not, it is the very bottom floor of the commons!

These activities are found all throughout the year, but a lot of them are happening right now! Such as Bob Ross Fridays (every Friday, both lunches, in which there is a Bob Ross video that is followed along with), the Fall Short Story Contest, and the Naming The Witch Contest. Upcoming events include the Book Fair and any unnamed planned events and crafts. So be sure to check in to see what’s new!

Everyone belongs in the library even if they don’t like to read.  Supporting the library is essential to keeping resources available. Plus, these activities are just fun! There is something for everyone and there is a book for everyone too!  Felgentrager urges this idea and says that “There is something out there for everyone. We have tens of thousands of books,” and “if you haven’t found that right book yet, come on in. Let us help you. We’ll be able to guide you in the right direction.” Every student belongs in the library, and there is no exception to that rule. Finding a book or finding a fun activity makes a day so much better than it would be without one and the library is a perfect way to make the day better.
