National Suicide Prevention month
For National Suicide Prevention Month (NSPM), the National Honors Society (NHS) held signs outside of the school on Harvard spreading positivity and helping spread awareness on Wednesday, September 25. The News-Review took photos of students holding signs, and students of Roseburg High School walked into school writing messages in chalk such as “Don’t forget to say I love you” and “Be brave and take risks.”
Be aware of the people around you and how they may be feeling, you never know how someone’s life is going or how they may feel. Be kind and courteous to the people around you. “Think before you do something” was a message written in chalk by Payson Burke. Another message was “Find love within yourself rather than being mean to yourself because you ‘don’t fit’ someone else’s standards.”
Roseburg High School values student mental health and physical health. If you are struggling or you know someone who is struggling, call or text 988 and tell a trusted adult. Therapy is available; talk to your guardian and see what medical help may be available for you.
