People have been buzzing around with excitement over a new “Five Nights at Freddy’s” (FNAF) game release called “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.” After the new owners, Steel Wool Studios took over the franchise in honor of Scott Cawthon, they announced a release of a new FNAF game coming on December 16, 2021. The problem with this is that no one knows what FNAF is. So…what the Heck is Security Breach?!
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” has always been a delightful game full of horror-esque animatronics trying to eliminate you before 6 am. It has brought wonders to the gaming community on YouTube and has always had its place in the hearts of young adults. Though the games are standing strong, the creator of the games, Scott Cawthon, had to give up on making the games due to some overwhelming drama that happened in 2020, stating that Scott donated to Republican groups that were against the LGBTQ community. This happened a few months before the game’s release. He already partnered with Steel Wool in 2019 and said that they would be a good replacement for him. Steel Wool went to Scott with advice about the game when it was being made and wanted a different storyline to the game. Having said that, the game didn’t release until 2021.
The game starts off with an intro of the gang (Glamrock Freddy, Glamrock Chica, Roxanne Wolf, and Montgomery Gator.) walking onto the stage, all ready for a performance. All of a sudden, Freddy starts to malfunction, breaking down on stage mid-performance. He wakes up in his room and hears a kid’s voice come out of his chest cavity, which then introduces the protagonist, Gregory. Freddy then tries to help Gregory escape the Pizzaplex and survive until 6 AM.
What makes this game unique from the rest of the FNAF games is the game mechanics. FNAF games have always been point-and-click horror games. In FNAF Security Breach, the game is free-roam, making it an easier and more fun experience for both new players and old. Instead of having the animatronics go against you, Freddy tries to assist you throughout the game.
Besides the unique storyline and gameplay, the game itself is truly a delightful experience. The characters have their own unique personalities and it gives a charming touch to the game.
