A no-kill animal shelter was started in Roseburg, Oregon in 1991. It is called The New Beginnings SPCA, which means that no stray or behaviorally challenged pets will get euthanized unless they have serious health issues and are suffering and/or dying. Instead, they get picked up, neutered or spayed, and set free. According to the New Beginnings SPCA they are a non-profit and a no-kill organization meaning animals will never be euthanized unless there is no other option. The SPCA is always looking for volunteers to help with adoptions and in their thrift store downtown. They also accept donations. Here is a list of items that they always need:
• Any kind of kitty litter
• Used blankets, sheets, etc
• Stainless or ceramic bowls
• Litter pans (uncovered)
• Pet carriers
• Pet food. LOTS of pet food
