Schools have reopened and events are now able to take place on this campus. The first of these events is Homecoming Week, October 18-October 23. Of course, with this pandemic, students and staff need to take special precautions. This year, all students will be required to wear masks during all of the events inside and outside. The Powderpuff football game will take place Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. The Homecoming assembly is Friday, Oct. 22 during the school day on Finlay Field. The game is at 7:00 p.m. that same evening with a Bleacher Bum theme. The dance is being held outside in the quad area between the gym and Commons on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. The dress code will be semi-formal and the theme is Out of This World. No student guests will be allowed, and the Homecoming dance occurs rain or shine.

The ASB co-presidents Marin Gray and Chelsea Miller were willing to answer some questions on the event. They explained why Homecoming is back, saying, “We decided to bring Homecoming back because it’s a cherished RHS tradition and a way to build back school spirit after the effects of online learning. Although we are still cautious about the pandemic, we wanted to bring a sense of normalcy and excitement back in any way we could.” The co-presidents elucidated on the planning that goes into the event. The ASB co-presidents say “We plan each factor that goes into Homecoming in individual committees before coming together to present this awesome week we call Homecoming.”

Seven senior boys and seven girls will be selected to the Homecoming court. One senior boy and one senior girl will be crowned Homecoming king and queen out of those seven. Voting took place during the Advisory period on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Update: As of Friday, October 8, guests are now allowed at this year’s Homecoming dance. Guest passes are available in the front office.
